I’ve spent over 15 years inside the fashion industry — in the fittings, on the factory floors, at the fabric mills. My background spans Product Development, Materials, and Production, with past lives at Helmut Lang, Marc Jacobs, Coach, and Burton Snowboards. I’ve spent my career obsessing over construction, fabric, and form — but always through the lens of real-world wearability.

Eventually, I realized I didn’t just want to develop clothes — I wanted to make them. And better yet, I wanted to empower other women to make them too.

My hands have always been busy. I grew up making jewelry, quilting, knitting — DIY was my baseline. I taught myself to sew in 2021, starting with basic dresses and deadstock designer fabrics. It quickly spiraled.

Sewing became a portal — a way to slow down, to experiment, to create exactly what I wanted to wear without being bummed by the quality of options in stores. I couldn’t believe I had access to that kind of freedom — and I wanted to build a brand around it.

The indie pattern space has grown massively, but for a certain kind of woman — the one who cares about proportions, textures, tension, styling — it can still feel like a desert.

I started Carly Robbins New York to make patterns for women who have taste, who are still honing their style, and who don’t want to dress like everyone else. My designs are wearable, versatile, and intentionally minimal — so you can make them your own.

Inspired by Creative Pragmatism (special thank you, Amy Smilovic), amazing fabrics, and the kind of clothes that turn heads in the coffee line, this label is here to turn the sewing table into a space of personal style development.
